Zoopigi is a small village situated on the foothills of the Troödos mountains, approximately 24 km north of Limassol. The original name, Zoodochos Pigis, later shortened to Zoopigi, means ‘life-giving spring’, and natural spring water flows abundantly in the village square. At 885m above sea level, the village provides panoramic views across the Pitsilia area.
The villagers produce their own wine and traditional delicacies made from the juice of grapes. Zoopigi is one of the twelve remaining villages in Cyprus that continue the ancient Commanderia-making tradition and it is home to the Museum of the History of Commandaria where you can experience this age-old process up close.
